Not even the cooler weather, the wind and a somewhat wet lawn at the Hyatt Winery nor the occasional dust clouds put a damper on another marvelous excursion through the wine country in the vicinity of the Tri-Cities, so familiar and appreciated by many of us.
We had lots of fun, plenty of laughter, and tasted, once again many good wines, but never too many.
This Porsche Wine Tour might be entitled to yet another trophy /another distinction. PCA members from not less than six (6)
different regions took part in this year's wine tour. Admitted, there are other much larger Porsche events throughout the country, but we shouldn't hesitate for a moment to be very proud of our achievements. The Tri-Cities Porsche Team, always enthused, always willing to drive that extra mile, dedicated and welcoming, has earned another medallion for exceptional performance. Many thanks to the entire crew and their spouses!
And what fun the late afternoon drive was to the Columbia Crest Winery, as well as those lonely and inviting country roads. They seem designed for and designated to Porsche.
The absolute culmination of the day was the perfectly organized and delightful dinner. Congratulations to the chef and his team who made this delectable meal a wonderful experience for all of us. Added to this the selection of very attractive wines made this a perfect Porsche evening.
Following the dinner, plenty of awards were given out, amongst the many one each for the oldest (Bob Westmoreland's 1963 356) and the newest Porsche (Chip and Tillie Hammond's 2007 Targa 4S) present at this event. The prices were donated by Porsche of Spokane, Barrier Motors and Carrera Motors. Susan Gratien, President of Canada West, had the longest drive. Dick and Glenda Quantrille received the 'special' award. Speeches and announcements were kept to a minimum. If I remember correctly, Herman had the most to say. His charming smile and great sense of humor are always a pleasure.
Many thanks go to Ron and Jeanne Casavant who made it all happen. Just brilliant!
The dinner function was sold out which raises the question whether we might need a larger facility in the future. And still, we
would have loved a much larger participation. Those who didn't or couldn't attend missed another excellent occasion for great
friendship and lots of Porsche talk. Take a look at upcoming Porsche activities/functions and try not to miss those valuable
opportunities. Remember, it's also your club to enjoy. And finally a special 'thank you' to all participants from other regions who drove a good number of miles. Thank you so much for being with us.
