Car d'Lane in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho – June 16 th , 2007
What an impressive event this Car d'Lane ‘historic car show' has been. Neither threatening clouds nor the occasional sprinkle of light rain, for most of us refreshing, but bothering the owners of those highly polished cars, did disturb the crowds who appeared in the thousands. They came, young and old, and stayed for hours enthused and often speechless. While the experts seemed more interested in the engine departments of those fabulous cars, the ‘muscle' power of them, the years those machines were built, also the speed they would still muster, others just admired the beauty of the individual designs and the selection of colors. It was indeed an interesting task to observe the passing public, each in his /her own way judging the hundreds of cars on display up and down Sherman Avenue and more.
Considering the formidable number of visitors, Mike, our President, expressed the desire to have more than just three (3) Porsches at this occurrence next year. Will it be the President's duty to remind us in time next year, or will it be rather Kelly's chore to start the Car d'Alene campaign sometime in March of 2008? For those who couldn't make it out to Coeur d'Alene this year, the three (3) Porsches present were those of Hartmut (1959 1600 Super), Mike ( 911 T) and John (1976 911 Turbo). Nothing but compliments from the public which made each of the owners of these beautiful cars more than proud.
Thanks go to Hartmut, Mike, and John for getting up very early to secure one of the nicer spots along Sherman Avenue. Thanks also to those Porsche Club members who came by and helped with providing answers to the interested public. It really was a wonderful day filled, like at all such gatherings, with plenty of Porsche talk. We should strive for a yet much larger success next year.
